One of the most distinguished Zionist historians of our time will speak about Tel Aviv, the first Hebrew city, the epitome of Modern Israel. Tel Aviv challenged and the Jewish past with the urban present. Tel Aviv symbolized three different identities: Jaffa, the Arab port city nearby,  the Jewish shtetl, presumably left behind in eastern Europe but still very much in the present and,  Jerusalem, the symbol of Jewish past splendor and tragedy. How the city evolved with these three streams is the subject of the presentation.
